Whygo2 Dubai
Letsgo2 employees have travelled extensively to the destinations we feature. Here are the five main reasons they would consider a visit to Dubai.
The Shopping and the Gold
Dubai is named the City of Gold for a reason, its souks of Gold and jewels. Here you will be able to find any type of precious metal or jewel that you desire and at much reduced prices than the UK. If its not just Gold you are after, Dubai has ultra modern shopping Malls, such as Diera City Centre and The Pyramids and some days they are open until midnight, where you can shop till you drop
The Restaurants and Bars
The variety of restaurants in Dubai is vast and to suit all budgets. A simple guide to price, is location and the star rating of the hotel the restaurant is in. One thing to bear in mind is alcohol is only available if served within a hotel. There are plenty of bars and clubs, and even though Dubai is an Islamic country, the nightlife is good with some clubs open until 3 a.m. Tuesday nights is Ladies night and free drinks vouchers are given out on the door to the bars.
Great Accommodation
The 4 and 5 star hotels in Dubai are now well renowned for being of an extremely high quality. Obviously this does reflect on the cost of accommodation, however you will not be disappointed in your accommodation. The Hotels and predominately the Beach properties run on very high occupancies due to the sheer popularity of this fantastic destination, so booking well in advance is a must!!! The hotel prices do reduce in the summer period (Jun Aug), but remember it is HOT!!! PLEASE NOTE: All over Dubai there are development projects taking place particularly around the Beach hotels in Jumeira and Jebel Ali.
Lots to see and Do
Dubai is not just sun, shopping and modern buildings, a must see is the beautiful Arabic architecture and traditional buildings such as in the Bastakiya Quarter, as well as the Jumeirah Mosque situated on the Beach Road. If you are in to discovering more about the History and Culture of places you visit, then the Dubai Museum, Sheikh Saeed al Maktoum House and Dubai Heritage and Diving Village are also a must. If we were to suggest one thing to do whilst in Dubai, it is the Dune dinner where you will experience the deserts of Dubai, an exciting drive over sand dunes, a camel farm, watch the sunset from high dunes and finally after sunset, a barbecue dinner is served at a traditional Arabic Camp.
The Weather
Summer (May to September) is quite hot and can reach up to 48C with high humidity levels reaching 90 percent. Although the temperature is high, all buildings are air-conditioned and outside can be comfortable outside the middle of the day. This period offers the best value for money. October to April, during which the temperature hovers around a more comfortable 25C mark, would be the ideal time to visit this fascinating place.
